DONALD and ALLY formed RHR during the summer of 2010 having found
a common interest in Americana music. Their sound has developed
over the years into an electro-acoustic DESERT GOTHIC with shades of
SPAGHETTI WESTERN and ROCKABILLY NOIR which wouldn’t be out of place
in many a bar and honky-tonk the length and breadth of the US of A.
They perform mostly their own songs but aren’t afraid to tackle those
timeless greats by the likes of GRAM PARSONS, EMMYLOU HARRIS,
TOWNES VAN ZANDT and PATTY GRIFFIN.
In the time they’ve worked together they’ve supported, amongst others,
STACEY EARLE and MARK STUART, SALLY SPRING and TED LYONS, THE
LUSH ROLLERS, MICHAEL WESTON KING, SUZETTE LAWRENCE in venues
across Scotland and with MARTIN STEPHENSON at THE JAZZ CAFE in
Ally’s album, ASTOR PLACE, was released in 2011 to great critical acclaim
and went on to be played on radio stations across the UK, EUROPE and
RHR’s first album, CLOSER TO HOME, was released in 2012. You can read
the wonderful review JOHN DAVY gave it HERE.
After a fantastic promotional UK tour, they performed at Belladrum Tartan
Heart Festival and followed that up in 2013 with their third year in a row
November 2013 saw them headlining a few shows in Nashville and since
then they’ve been writing new material, spending time in the recording
studio and gigging around and about.
